The District prison of Myagdi is facing the space problem for inmates and detainees. The prison has a capacity to accommodate only 32 inmates and detainees however, there are 94 inmates at present. The prison has a capacity to accommodate 25 male and seven female inmates however there are 85 male and five female inmates at present.
Inmates are facing various health issues along with difficulties on eating, going to toilets, sleeping and clean drinking water. There are two dependent children in the prison.
Chief of Myagdi prison, Rajendra Sharma said that initiation to solve the space problem is reported to the concerned authority however the issue is the same.
The overcrowded prison is also raising the security issue of the inmates.
CDO Liladhar Adhikari said that initiation for the expansion of the prison and transferring inmates to another district is being coordinated.
